Bio

Eileen Koyama earned her B.Sc. in Research Psychology at the University of Toronto before moving to Tokyo to work as an editor of academic journal articles. After returning home, she worked as a freelance editor of non-fiction books. Years later, when trauma and PTSD turned her world upside down, art therapy was there to catch her, and now she is learning to wrest the emotions from her heart and lay them down in paint on canvas. She has shown her work in galleries and cafés, on magazine covers and in calendars, on the media boxes on subway platforms, and at Artsu Matsuri in 2011. She believes that being able to connect with another human being through her artwork can only be called magical.
