Bio
Yonsei, Kevin Takahide Lee is a firm believer that the arts must be interwoven with social needs. After graduating from UBC and UWO in opera and voice performance, he has been involved with productions focused on bringing attention to IBPOC stories.
For over a decade Takahide-san has portrayed Japanese Canadian veteran Zennosuke Inouye with the Surrey Re-Enactors. Other notable roles include Dr. Gordon Hirabayash in Jeanne Sakata’s ’Hold These Truths’ and Hideo Sakamoto in ‘Forgiveness’ by Mark Sakamoto play by Hiro Kanagawa.
Kevin sits on the Powell Street Festival’s programming committee, and is vice president of New Westminster Pride Society.
Other past performances include: A Charlie Brown Holiday Double Bill (Carousel Theatre for Young People), Tom Pinkerton: The Ballad of Butterly’s Son (Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre), Chernobyl the Opera (Troika Collective), and Don Carlo (Vancouver Opera)
Honours include: The Arts Club Theatre’s Bill Millerd Artist Fund, National Association of Japanese Canadians Endowment Fund, Canada Shorts Film Festival Distinction Award and BC Arts Council Pivot and Personal Development Grant.
