Rui Umezawa is a Toronto-based writer of such books as Strange Light Afar and The Truth About Death and Dying. Born in Tokyo in 1959, he left Japan as a child with his father, a theoretical physicist who pursued career opportunities in Europe, the United States, and eventually Canada. Umezawa writes novels, essays, and stories for children and young adults.
