Bio

Born 1928. Prince Rupert BC. Relocated to Toronto in 1946.

Studied design, typography and painting. Honors Graduate. Ontario College of  Art.

Worked professionally for 10 years before accepting a teaching post at Sheridan College,School of Art and Design. Stan pioneered the graphic design curriculum in the field of design education at Sheridan and the level of the program from a commercial art to a highly professional training. Stan was instrumental in the advocacy and development of the Registered Graphic Designers Association of Ontario and co-chaired an adhoc, he4 is  committee from 1992-1996 making an significant contribution to generation of designers currently in the field. He laid the foundation for the process that led to the creation of the Sheridan/York U degree program, a first in Ontario.

Stan retired from the college in 1996, awarded an Honorary Professor Emeritus.

Currently he is absorbed in the  study  and practise of Shodo with particular interest in exploring calligraphic form as a contemporary expression, especially the spirit of some of the Gutai group of artists and calligraphers.
