Artist Statement
My clay objects are unfired to keep the possibilities of the transformation of clay alive. Within the solitude with clay, I use my body as a contested site of finding my identity. My body carries features passed down from my parents, traces of aging, muscles from physical activities, experiences, history, and cultural influences. These marks on my body are an identifier and my identity. The reverberation I experience when searching for identity is discomfort, disgust, rejection, and longing. I explore those senses in my body in the making.TAGS: Performance Arts Visual Arts| Clay
