Yoshie Bancroft is an actor and theatre creator based in Vancouver, BC. Recent theatre credits include Lizzie in Pride & Prejudice (Chemainus), Flare Path (Slamming Door Collective), The Air Loom (you & i Theatre), Evie/Cat* in Ithaka (dream of passions / Excavation Theatre), Pride & Prejudice (Arts Club), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Home Is A Beautiful Word (Belfry), Tour (Universal Ltd.)— a show she co-created with support from The Electric Company for Hive 3,and later took to Summerworks. Select film and TV credits include Emily Owens M.D., The Flash, Bates Motel, Supernatural, and Pancake Breakfast (SXSW).
Yoshie is drawn to stories that inspire us to challenge our own thinking and that reflect an inclusive and diverse perspective. She is currently developing a show about the Japanese Canadian Incarceration during WWII, called JAPANESE PROBLEM, which will premiere site specifically in September 2017 at Hastings Park, with support from the National Association of Japanese Canadians, the Nikkei National Museum and the BC Arts Council.
